Arthur E. Klinkacek wanted to give back to his community and he did just that with a gift of more than $2 million to the Kearney Area Community Foundation from his estate. In honor of Arthur Klinkacek’s wishes to help communities and youth in the Kearney area for years to come, the Kearney Area Community Foundation created charitable funds to be used for scholarships for area youth, as well as community preservation and enrichment purposes, in honor of Klinkacek’s wishes to help communities and youth in Buffalo County areas for years to come.

The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund typically grants funds to projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Grants are made to nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) qualified organizations, or organizations delivering a project or program which have a fiscal relationship with a qualified charity.

  1. Review the Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment (AKCE) Grant Guidelines to make sure your organization qualifies to be considered for a grant.

  2. Since these grants may be larger and more competitive, there will be a pre-application form and review process. Once the pre-application is approved, nonprofits will be given access to an online grant application, unique to the Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund.

  3. Complete an online AKCE pre-application. The online link is available by clicking the "PRE-APPLY" button below. No grant proposals will be considered without an online application.

  4. Applications must be submitted online on or before March 1, July 1, or November 1 for the Review Cycle.

  5. All questions on the online application need to be answered. Supporting documents are required (see guidelines).

(Don’t forget to allow time for your pre-application submittal and approval which are required before the link to the application is given.)

If you would like to discuss a grant idea, verify if your proposal or organization qualifies, or if you have any questions at all, please call (308) 237-3114.
